The Society
has some 38 years experience of promoting interest in the
Science of Astronomy and general awareness of the night sky.
The LAS your local
astronomical society was formed in 1969 and has its own observatory
, housing a 0.5 metre reflecting telescope and has a long association
with the University of Bedfordshire at Putteridge Bury near Luton
, Beds. The LAS has a programme of monthly meetings and holds
Public Open Evenings at various times throughout the year. The
LAS encourages interest in Astonomy through educational visits
by groups of all ages to our observatory.
Group visits to
our observatory can be arranged in advance, from November to March.
The Observatory also holds a number of open evenings, the next
one is in March 08 during National Science and Engineering week

Regular monthly Meetings held on last Thursday each month (except December)
at Univ.of Bedfordshire, Putteridge Bury , North of Luton , A505 (LU2 8LE)
(Except June, July and August when meetings are held at Someries Junior School , Stopsley)
( Doors open 7.15 pm , meeting 7.30 until 9pm ) All visitors are welcome (Admission £2 [Adults] ), Children (Free))
