National Science and Engineering Week - LAS Public Open Evening

Venue LAS Observatory , Univ of Bedfordshire , Putteridge Bury , Hitchin Rd ( LU2 8LE)

 

A public open evening is arranged for NSEW 08 in association with University of Bedfordshire , Putteridge Bury

date to be confirmed ( weather permitting doors open 7pm until , last admisssion 8.30pm ) .

The theme of the evenings will be The Stars and Planets of the Spring Skies and weather permitting it is hoped to use the

LAS 0.5metre telescope and other instruments to view the ringed planet Saturn and look at some of the many fine star clusters, nebulae

and double stars of the Spring skies . A general introduction sky tour of the spring constellations is also planned.

Please note that visitors should assemble in the Car Park area on arrival , where LAS members will escort you through the grounds to the LAS

Observatory ( Due to the location of the Observatory, 5 minutes walk from the main building, we regret that wheelchair access is not possible ).

Admission is Free, all visitors are welcome, suitable for all ages - Children should however be accompanied by a responsible adult

We recommend visitors wear stout footware and warm clothing
